The Schatz Energy Research Center (SERC) staff is working to establish clean energy technologies. They specialize in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and hydrogen energy systems. Their work involves research and development, technology demonstration, project development, energy systems analysis, and education and training. In addition, they perform feasibility studies, resource assessments, and energy planning studies. SERC is a well-equipped engineering research laboratory with a fully tooled machine shop, an assembly and testing lab/workshop, electronics shop, and specialized research facilities. 6,000+ sq ft building housing an exterior laboratory, two indoor labs, a machine shop, a conference and demonstration room, and offices for staff and students.
SERC specializes in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and hydrogen energy systems. Testing capabilities include performance testing, evaluation, and verification; efficiency measurements; mass and energy balance calculations; emissions analysis; economic assessment; lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions assessment; compliance and performance standards assessment; reliability assessment; and simulation modeling.
